Stunning oil on canvas depicting the tip of Ile de la Cite' and the square of the 'Gallant Vert'. The Green Gallant was the euphemistic name given to Henri IV because with his many mistresses it was said 'he was like a young green sprout'. From the early twentieth century, done with impressionist spirit and skill. Note the skilled perspective, layout which uses the trees on the bank to frame the island. Beautiful XIXth frame in wood and golden stucco.
